Ingredients


For the Meatballs:

  • 500g beef mince

  • 250g pork mince

  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs

  • 1/2 cup milk

  • 1 small onion, finely chopped

  • 1 egg

  • 1 tsp salt

  • 1/2 tsp pepper

  • 1 tsp minced garlic

  • 1/4 tsp ground allspice

  • 1/4 tsp ground nutmeg

  • 2 tbsp butter (for frying)


For the Creamy Gravy:

  • 2 tbsp butter

  • 2 tbsp plain flour

  • 2 cups beef stock

  • 1 cup thickened cream

  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce

  • 1 tbsp mustard

  • Salt and pepper to taste



Step-by-Step Instructions


  1. In a bowl, mix the beef and pork mince with the breadcrumb, milk, onion, garlic, egg, salt, pepper, allspice, and nutmeg. Roll into small meatballs (about 2.5cm wide).


  2. Heat butter in a large pan and fry meatballs in batches until browned on all sides and cooked through. Set aside.


  3. In the same pan, melt butter and whisk in the flour. Cook for 1–2 minutes. Slowly whisk in the beef stock, followed by mustard, cream and Worcestershire sauce. Simmer until the sauce thickens. Season to taste.


  4. Return meatballs to the pan and coat in the creamy gravy. Simmer for 5 minutes until warmed through.
